Many local governments require residents to register an alarm permit after activating a monitored alarm system. Permits vary by jurisdictions and counties. Most often, they help inform your local authorities of how many monitored systems are in their communities; helping them better manage resources and personnel for emergency dispatch.

Why is this important?
- Most jurisdictions require you to register your monitored alarm system with the local police department.
- Some police departments require a current alarm permit be on file at all times and WILL NOT DISPATCH to your location without one.
- False alarm fines may be higher if there is no permit on file. These fines vary by jurisdiction and in most instances, the fine amounts escalate with each occurrence.
